Light A Candle to remember a loved one
Often at this time of year, on or near to All Soul’s Day on November 2nd, there would be opportunity to gather at a church for a memorial service. On these occasions we often seek to remember and give thanks for those who have passed away in the last year, as well as longer ago. We also look for comfort in God and hope for the future through readings, prayer and song, and through leaning on each other. Usually a part of the service is the opportunity to come forward and light a candle in memory of a loved one, sometimes as their name is read aloud.
This year it is not possible to easily hold a memorial service in church buildings, due to the restrictions imposed upon gatherings in response to the Coronavirus. However we still want to provide some opportunity to take a small action to name and remember a loved one. So please follow the link to light a virtual candle, add a name, and add perhaps a precious memory of that person for which you are thankful. Please then feel free to share the link to the page for others to see your memorial candle and perhaps invite them to light one of their own.
On the evening of Sunday 1st November at 7pm Rev Stephen Levett, a minister in the Methodist Churches, will hold a short memorial service online via his Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/stephen.levett.75 Please feel free to attend if you will find it helpful.
