Methodist Women in Britain

The induction service of Jackie Hartrey as President and Deacon Marilyn Slowe as Vice President of MWIB in the Birmingham District took place recently at Catshill Methodist Church. This was also a farewell to the previous president Christine Temple, whose fundraising project for a special room in Great Ormond Street raised £18000.

Jackie Hartrey’s special project is not primarily about fundraising but about contributing craft especially crochet blankets to go to displaced people. Many blankets have already gone to Syria via Jackie transported by Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (who have their own Facebook page and website ) Also, in her presidential 2 years Jackie has launched ‘Crafternoon Tea’ in the Bromsgrove & Redditch Circuit and hopes to be invited to launch around the district which encourages people to join together to craft over tea & cake and share their stories because everyone has a life journey to share.

Rev Loraine Mellor preached on women’s strength together. Rev Anne Smith & Rev Richard Wilde as deputy chairs stood in for Chair of District.
